          Project description:

No.1 Senica Junior Secondary School is devoted to preservation of water ecosystems in Zárie region, Western Slovakia. We belong to Black sea and Baltic sea basins and throughout the school year we run multiple innitiatives and long-term environmental projects answering four annual calls: studying and preserving biodiveristy in water ecosystems (Call of the Wild), collecting rubish from water-bound areas (Cleaning the Banks), taking measures to lessen the impact of climate change (Red Alert) and acquiring new nature-friendly habits (Green Watch). The innitiatives are run by student teams and culminate at a one-day-campaign called We Are At The Same Boat. The event is run by our school but involved are students, teachers and volunteers from all five senica Junior Secondary schools who in small teams present their innitiatives in the system of peer-to-peer learning. The campaign is organized as part of Earth Day celebrations and foru of the most productive student research teams receive an honour prize - a boat barell and all teams collect badges into their Climatic Certificate. Every two-three years the school Enviro-Team organizes an expedition to the sea shore and builds a new partnership with local school/NGO. Our professional partner institutions are as follows: Záhorie Community Center, Záhore Nature Reserve Authority, Senica Municipality, Trenčín Water Treatment Plant, Sea Scouts Centres in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Austria and Italy.
